As a service to our readers, we have teamed up with Kelley, a grad student who is attempting to help support herself by searching for pension and military records at the National Archives in Washington D.C. Kelley charges a very nominal fee for this work, as indicated below, and provides a rapid turn-around in supplying the records. The information required and the terms are listed below.
Please note that Kelley can only gain access to the National Archives when it offers extended hours, which occurs three days a month. Still, the turn-around time on her work should be less than the usual time for submittions to the National Archives.

Kelley will look up pension and military records for Spanish American
War vets (as well as, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War and
Civil War). She will provide copies of the records to you.
The turn-around time on most files is within two and a half weeks,
which is quite fast!
For a Pension Record, the fee is $45. For this fee, she will locate the record if it exists and will copy up to 45 pages, and will mail the documents to you (the cost of postage is included in the fee). For files greater than 45 pages, she will charge additionally the actual copying cost.
For Military Record, the fee is $29. For this fee, she will locate the record if it exists and will copy up to 25 pages (the cost of postage is included in the fee). For files greater than 45 pages, she will charge additionally the actual copying cost.
If you would like both records, the fee is $65, with the copying terms as listed above.
Payment can be made into Kelley’s Paypal account using a credit card, your own Paypal account, etc. If you place an order, Kelley will provide you with the Paypal account info. If Paypal is a problem, checks are also accepted, but work cannot begin until the check clears.
The process requires that 50% of your fee is due up front. The
remainder is due once a file is located. If a file cannot be located,
then the remaining 50% payment is not required (in other words, you are
paying half for the time it takes Kelley to search and dig to see if
there is a record available).
Kelley requires the following info. to do a records search:
1 - Name of soldier
2 - The State they from which they served
3 – If you can provide a military unit designation, that would be very
helpful.
4 – For pension records, if possible, please include the name of the

5 – Your name, mailing address and email address
6 - Include code key "SCW" in the email subject line.
