Santiago/Cavite Medal

This medal was awarded to Enrique Vazquez Torrado for his participation
in the Battle of Santiago. This medal
was issued in about 1923 or 1924 (possibly for the 25th anniversary of
the battle). It is not clear at present what role Enrique Vazquez Torrado
played in the action.
The bar reads "Santiago De Cuba/3 De Julio De 1898" or Santiago Cuba/July
3, 1898." The back reads "Cavite/Santiago De Cuba/1898" It is assumed
that this medal was by the Spanish government.
