Spanish American War cartoon from Le Rire magazine

This caricature was published by the French magazine LE RIRE, (THE SMILE or THE LAUGH), on May 5, 1898, four days after the Battle of Manila Bay/Cavite. It pertains to the collection of a Spanish gentlemen named Manuel Gramunt de Moragas. The cartoon depicts a "McKinley" battleship sinking a small battleship of young Spanish king, Alfonso XIII. The caption read "The era of chivalry has ended...nowadays only blood and iron rule."
