General:
This is a view of Michael Benjamin Hawkins of the First
California
Regiment. Hawkins is shown playing an infantry bugle, complete
with tassel. He is wearing a musicians' sword at his side.
Michael Benjamin Hawkins later served in World War One, rising to the
rank of colonel. He died at age 77 in Panama City, Florida. He is the
son of Edward Hawkins and Ada Didymore Merrick
