This image is of the INDIANA
clearly shows her aft turret bristling with 13 inch guns as well as her
port turret of 8 inch guns. The supports extending above the hatches and
aft from between the 13 inch guns are supports for canvas awnings. These
would be removed in times of battle. This photo was obviously taken in
colder weather and the shade of the awanings no needed.
