This ia an image of the Third
Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Company C. This unit was raised in
Georgia's Newnan, Coweta, Meriwether, Carroll, Ferrell and Paulding
Counties, and was commanded by Capt. J. E. Powell.
In the fifth row at center (with hand raised) is Earnest Jones
Shannon,of Newnan, Georgia. Shannon's brother-in-law of Charles W.
Atchison who served in Company H.
Apparently the entire regiment was photographed, company by company,
in this location. See the photo of Company D
for a comparison.
