24th U.S. Infantry, Co. F (Originally
from Montgomery County, Maryland; served from August 22, 1898 until
December 4, 1899. On that date he was ill and left behind at Bayonbong,
Philippine Islands along with two other members of his company.
They all disappeared on their way to rejoin their company.)
POE, JOHN PRENTISS, Jr., Sgt.,
5th Maryland Volunteer Infantry,
Co. F (February 26, 1874 – September 25, 1915) (Originally from
Baltimore, Maryland; After serving with the 5th
Maryland Volunteer Infantry, he joined the 23rd
U.S. Infantry and served in the Philippines. Later, during
World War One, he joined the British Black Watch Regiment and was killed
at the Battle of Loos, France. His body was not recovered.)
